/played doesn’t give you how long you’ve been subscribed, nor how long your character has been in existence. It’s how long you have PLAYED that character. It counts how long that character has been logged in.
Two weeks of game time = 336 hours
Seven weeks of game time = 1176 hours
You can use the /played command as proof in your “Level 10 Challenge.” Use /played, make sure your level shows in the same shot, and screenshot that result.
About the mail and AH fees, etc. I think it’s quite necessary to have money sinks in the game. Otherwise the inflation spirals out of control (like it probably will in Age of Conan).
Also, having instantaneous mounting time and no chance to get knocked off would make escaping from fights a bit too easy, and unrealistic even :).
